- ACT New Zealand. Right. Smaller government.
- New Zealand First. Right. Nationalist.
- New Zealand Labour Party. Centre-left. Official opposition.
- Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand. Left. Environment and a bigger welfare state.
- The Opportunity Party. Centre to centre-left. Not in Parliament yet.
- Te Pāti Māori. Left. Māori rights.
Attack politics and misinformation
Campaigns push hard. Some claims do not hold up. Be cautious with scare lines.
- Parties attack each other on tax, crime and the Treaty. A flyer or billboard is not the full policy.
- Misinformation does land in this campaign. In September 2026 the Advertising Standards Authority ruled a National tax flyer misleading for saying Labour's capital gains tax would hit KiwiSaver. Labour's plan leaves ordinary KiwiSaver balances out.
- National's September 2026 crime ad used some clips from after they took office. Luxon said those images were before their laws took full effect. Labour called it dishonest.
- Treat attack ads with care. Check what the party actually proposes before you decide.
